We regulate through connection
Building the Habit, Adding the Why?
Children start to learn a little of the why alongside the how at this stage, understanding that feeling wobbly, cross, or a bit fizzy inside isn’t naughty or silly, it’s just their body trying to help. Alongside heart breathing, they learn the butterfly hug and a simple gratitude practice, both genuinely practical tools they can use themselves, at school or at home, whenever they need them.
Each session is around 8 minutes, pre-recorded, and ready to play. There’s nothing for staff to prepare, script or facilitate.
What The Children Learn
Every session returns to the same anchor practice, heart breathing, which helps steady a child’s whole body and mind. Alongside it, children are introduced to the butterfly hug, a gentle, self-administered tapping technique, and the Three G’s, a simple practice of noticing three things they feel glad about. Both tools are quick, memorable and entirely within a child’s own control, so they can be reached for independently, not just during a session.
Built With Every Child In Mind
Why This Matters at This Age
By five to seven, children are beginning to notice their own feelings more clearly, but they still need very concrete tools to do anything useful with that awareness. Giving them a small toolkit, rather than a single technique, means they can start choosing what helps in the moment, an early, gentle introduction to the idea that they have some genuine agency over how they feel.
